TM 9-243USING AN ELECTRICAL CONDUIT HAND BENDER1Install handle (1) on bender (2). A section ofthreaded pipe may be used as a handle.2Tip the bender forward and slide the section ofconduit (3) to be bent through the retaining hook (4).3Place mark where bend is to start opposite thearrow on the front end of the bender.CARE OF BENDERSCAUTIONDo not jerk the handle, as this will createinternal cracks and ridges inside the con-duit which will cut the wires.4Place one foot on the foot rest (5) and push downwith your foot while pulling back on the handle.Apply steady pressure throughout the entire bend-ing process.5 When desired bend has been obtained, release thepressure on the conduit by returning the handle toan upright position and slide the conduit out of thebender.1.Clean all grease and oil from gripping surfaces witha rag.40-42.Apply a light coat of oil to non-gripping surfaces.3.Store in a safe, dry place.
