TM 9-243USING A HAND SCREW CLAMPCAUTIONUse only on wood.Examine material to be clamped and select a clampwhich will span across the work.1Open the clamp jaws (1) and place the workbetween the jaws. Keep jaws parallel. Use rawhideor soft leather to protect highly polished surface.2Tighten operating screws (2) making sure the clampjaws remain parallel. Be sure jaws fit firmly on work.Properly clamped work will form a square.CAUTIONMake sure vise jaws remain parallel toedges of work.CARE OF C-CLAMPSClean threads and swivel with a rag, and lubricate with alight coat of oil.Store on a rack, on pins, or in a tool box.For long storage periods, apply a rust-preventivecompound.CARE OF HAND SCREW CLAMPSLubricate screws with a few drops of light oil.
