TM 9-243USING THE CROSSCUT SAWWARNINGWEAR EYE PROTECTION.1In using the crosscut saw, place the work on a leveljust below the knees. Place one sawhorse, bench orother support (1) fairly close to line of cut (2).2To start the cut, place thumb (3) against the side ofthe saw blade, being careful to hold it well aboveteeth.3Start the cut by drawing back a few inches of teeth atthe heel of the saw a few times.4At approximately a 45 degree angle, saw only onthe downward stroke applying pressure evenly.5Keep the saw blade at a right angle to the worksurface by checking the saw position occasionallywith a try square (4).6When nearing end of cut, hold the waste side of thewood to prevent board breaking off unevenly.46-5
