TM 9-243USING THE ELECTRIC CHAIN SAW - ContinuedWARNINGNEVER STAND DIRECTLY BEHINDCHAIN SAW.1Make sure power source is disconnected. Beforeusing, ensure that the chain teeth (1) are in theproper position (saw should cut in direction ofarrow).2Check the teeth to make sure they are sharp andundamaged.5Stand to the left of the saw (3) with your left hand onthe front handle (4) and your right hand on the rearhandle (5).NOTEReverse the position of the stance andhands if left-handed.6With your weight evenly distributed, depress triggerto start saw.WARNINGWHEN CUTTING, KEEP THE NOSE OFTHE GUIDE BAR FROM CONTACTINGLOGS, BRANCHES, GROUND OR ANYOTHER OBSTRUCTION. THIS CANCAUSE "KICKBACK" WHICH IS AQUICK AND DANGEROUS UPWARDMOVEMENT OF THE GUIDE BAR ANDSAW CHAIN.CAUTIONThe saw chain should be at maximumspeed before contacting working surface.7Cut with the spike bar (6) set firmly against the woodand apply light pressure.8Continue to guide the chain saw through the workuntil cut is completed.3Ensure that the work (2) is stationary and wellsecured to prevent slippage or movement.4Connect chain saw to power source.52-11
