VERTICAL FURRING.— The vertical furring(fig. 9- 12) should be installed immediately after thebase, corner, and gable furrings are in place. Thecenter line of the furring on each side of the windowshould be in line with the center line of the end-wallpanel corrugations (shown in the inserts). After theend-wall hardboard has been installed, attach side andtop flashing to the door. Attach flashing to the furringwith 4d aluminum nails and to the door frames with1/2-inch No. 10 sheet-metal screws, as shown in figure9-13.SIDEWALL AND CEILING FURRING.—After installing the end-wall liner, install furring forthe sidewall and ceiling. Cut the base so the end justclears the inside flange of the center-frame column.Nail the furring in the same manner as the end walls.HARDBOARD FLASHING.— With the furringin place, you can now install the hardboard liner. Installthe top and bottom hardboard flashing, as shown infigure 9-14. Insert the outside edge into the retaininggrooves in the window. Nail metal flashing angle andhardboard to the horizontal furring with 4d aluminumnails 1 foot 8 inches OC. Install side hard- board flash-ing and metal flashing angles using the same proceduresdiscussed above.The installed ceiling furring should intersect side-wall furring. When all the ceiling furring has beeninstalled, the hardboard liner can be installed. Remem-ber the 1/8-inch gap between panels. The smoke stackassembly should be attached to the block- ing andfurring with 4d aluminum nails. Hand trim the hard-board flashing for the ends of the ventilator opening andattach the metal ventilator flashing (see fig. 9- 15).TRIM.— Install the cave molding with thebeveled edge against the ceiling panels.
